Prime minister suggests possible measure as he prepares to chair emergency Cobra meeting in response to extreme heat

Spotted this picture on the newswires that feels truly apocalyptic:

The Green party leader, Zack Polanski, has commented on analysis estimating that this summer’s heatwaves have cost the UK economy £4.4bn so far this year (you can read that report here).

This summer’s extreme heat is striking at the heart of our economy, losing this country billions when we can ill afford it.

And yet prime minister Burnham is missing in action on this issue - we haven’t heard a word about how he plans to keep people safe or protect our economy from the shocks to come.
