US will impose between 10 and 12.5% tariff on countries that are top trading partners, US trade representative says

Donald Trump’s administration has imposed a fresh wave of sweeping tariffs to replace a 10% global duty that was set to expire early Friday morning, the latest stage of his aggressive trade policy.

The US will impose between a 10% or 12.5% tariff on the 60 countries that are the top trading partners with the US, Jamieson Greer, the US trade representative announced late on Thursday. The duties would fall under section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which is aimed against countries that engage in forced labor.
