Greater Manchester chief constable says crucial data on phones seized from Heaton Park synagogue attacker was not examined

Greater Manchester police have apologised for a “missed opportunity” to act before an attack on a synagogue.

The force’s chief constable, Sir Stephen Watson, said the phones of the Heaton Park synagogue attacker, Jihad al-Shamie, were seized by officers but crucial data was not examined.
