Drone reveals charred forest landscape after wildfires scorch France

Drone footage captured on Wednesday (July 29) revealed the scale of destruction left by wildfires in southwestern France, showing charred land, uprooted and burnt trees and the remains of destroyed houses near Le Temple. The blaze in the Landes area west of Bordeaux burnt through 42,000 hectares of mainly pine forest, prompting authorities to evacuate about 220,000 holidaymakers and residents. Around 60,000 have since been allowed back.
