‘Enough of the excuses’ — Atiku’s aide challenges INEC over 2023 election

2 days ago 2

Paul Ibe, media aide to the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for describing problems recorded in the 2023 election as “technical glitch".

Ibe demanded that INEC must explain what went wrong. He also asked the commission to release the voters list ahead of the 2027 election.

Ibe made the demand in a post on X while criticising INEC chairman, Joash Amupitan. According to him, the problems surrounding the 2023 election raised questions about its transparency and credibility.

“There was nothing ordinary about a failure that called the transparency, integrity and credibility of the presidential election into question,” Ibe wrote.

He insisted that Nigerians deserved to know what failed, who was responsible and what steps had been taken to prevent a recurrence.

“Enough of the excuses. You better start the process to right the wrongs associated with the 2023 general elections with the release of the voters list,” Ibe said.
