Peter Obi breaks down at burial of man murdered during NDC campaign [VIDEO]

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, on Thursday broke down at the burial of a supporter of the party in Enugu.

The deceased, Christopher Nworie, was killed when suspected political thugs launched an attack during the NDC governorship campaign flag-off in Enugu.

Speaking at the burial, Obi described the death as painful and avoidable.

"One day, we will all end up six feet underground. His death is painful. I was supposed to return tomorrow, but because of this burial, I immediately changed my ticket and returned to Nigeria from the UK last night.

"We cannot continue like this. Someone died because of an election. Why not campaign based on issues? You cannot see me campaigning by insulting another party. I campaign based on issues that concern the people," Obi said.

He stressed that elections should not lead to loss of lives.
