The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Jigawa State has brought together Governor Malam Umar Namadi and two former civilian governors to lead the party's campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointments were contained in a statement issued on Thursday, October 22, 2026, and signed by the state APC chairman, Hon. Ahmed Garba.
The move is part of efforts by the ruling party to strengthen political unity, consolidate its support base and mobilise voters across the state's 27 local government areas.
According to the statement, Governor Namadi will serve as chairman of the campaign council, while former governors Barrister Ali Sa’adu Birnin Kudu and Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki will serve as deputy chairmen.
The party said the composition of the council was approved by the State Working Committee following consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.
The inclusion of the serving governor and his two predecessors brings together three generations of political leadership in the state under one campaign structure ahead of the elections.
The APC also appointed six vice chairmen, with two representatives drawn from each of the state's three senatorial districts.
For Jigawa North-East, Senator Muhammad Ibrahim and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia were appointed Vice Chairmen I and II, respectively.
In Jigawa South-West, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, and Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu were appointed to the same positions.
Similarly, Alhaji Jisa Gerawa and Hajiya Rabi Ishaq were named Vice Chairmen I and II for Jigawa North-West.
The party also appointed Alhaji Lawan Yau Roni as director-general of the campaign council to oversee its daily activities and coordinate campaign programmes.
Garba explained that the council would provide strategic direction, strengthen grassroots mobilisation and coordinate political activities aimed at securing victory for the party in the 2027 elections.
He urged members of the council and other party stakeholders to demonstrate unity, discipline, loyalty and commitment to the party's electoral objectives.
The APC chairman maintained that the party remained committed to progressive governance, democratic development and protecting the interests of the people of Jigawa State.
He also called on party members and supporters across the state to close ranks and work collectively towards achieving the party's political objectives in the forthcoming general elections.
